LEADER/DAUGHTER end-of-year party was AWESOME thank you to the Irwin’s for hosting so graciously and providing a beautiful and delicious cake too! The food was terrific, the pool was great fun, and the weather was perfect! Special gifts were also given to recognize three of our truly amazing leaders: Amy Wallquist, Elizabeth Devine and Brandi Hardee.
Hopefully you haven’t found this out the hard way…our local GS shop is **Closing Mondays from June 8th through July 27th** but open: Tuesday-Thursday 10-6 / Friday 10-3 / Saturday 9-2 (Sunday Mobile Trading Post at Texlake: 2pm-4pm, June 14th thru July 26th the Mobile trading Post is for summer resident campers only)

There is a patch design contest (details below under council news) for your scouts – designs due 7/19.
Don’t forget to register for the Volunteer Enrichment Conference – July 11th in Killeen – $15/person, but reimbursed by LHSU after you attend. Registration closes 6/27.

This Saturday, June 20th 1p-4p Mustang Valle SU is hosting a free event at Ghost Town Austin www.ghosttownausin.com they will have hotdogs and burgers (free while supplies last), snowcones and popcorn (.50), plus a western style photo booth ($1) – monies raised will go toward their FOGS goal. 14219 Littig Road, Manor, TX 78653

2015 Volunteer Enrichment Conference Spirit Contest- 1 Connected Council
This year the VEC Spirit Contest @ http://www.gsctx.org/en/for-volunteers/volunteer-events-and-conferences.html/#VECSpirit encourages service units and troops to show off the amazing things they do! Check out how you can enter the contest to win some great prizes and bragging rights! (There is a flyer available on our webpage for you to use to spread the word about the Spirit Contest.)The day includes general sessions to include Service Team and Leader trainings, a recognitions ceremony, opportunities to shop for Girl Scout merchandise, lunch and best of all 5 sessions full of informative and fun workshops that are designed to prepare you for the roles you have chosen to serve in as a Girl Scout Volunteer! Registration Information: The conference includes a patch, a hot lunch, and all training materials. The cost of this event is $15.00 per person. *TROOPS – Make a poster that highlights why your troop is AWESOME!!! Have they done a terrific Take Action Project? Have they saved for a fun trip? Are they working on their Bronze Award? Did they have fun and earn some badges and a Journey or two? Well, SHOW IT OFF!!
*SERVICE UNIT – Make a poster that highlights some of your best practices or best events or even your amazing statistics (# girls registered, FOGS goal reached/exceeded, # of troops, etc.). Make it eye-catching and fun! Toot your own horn and let everyone know why your Service Unit is GREAT!!!
Rules: Use standard poster size (22”x 28”) (no tri-folds) / On the back of the poster write Service Unit name, Troop # (if applicable), contact person and email address / Stay within the boundaries of the board / 3D elements should extend no more than 4 inches / No glitter, please. / Include Conference theme: 1 Connected Council
GS Leaders can take advantage of Boy Scout Training. You can find online Hazardous Weather, Safe Swim Defense, and other helpful training at the following link: https://myscouting.scouting.org You do need to create an account to take the training but you do not have to be a registered BSA volunteer. OUTDOOR PROGRESSION PATCH DESIGN | Designs due July 19th to jessican@gsctx.org|Outdoor Adventures invites all Girl Scouts to submit an Outdoor Progression Patch design to be considered for our new patch program! There will be 7 levels! They can link together to create a picture or be placed around a center patch. The winner will have their patch made into the new outdoor progression patch for girls to put on the back of their vests! Level 1: Main Patch / Level 2: Beginner / Level 3: Adventurer / Level 4: Intermediate Camper / Level 5: Outdoor Explorer / Level 6: Expert Camper / Level 7: Master of the Outdoors
