Congratulations on your choice to become a Girl Scout leader. Being a troop leader can be a rewarding and exciting opportunity to help girls in our area explore new experiences and develop valuable skills. As you get started keep in mind the following required and optional trainings that each leader should take in order to be well prepared for your role.
Required Trainings
- Girl Scouting 101 (online, 45 minutes)
- GSCTX Orientation (online video, 17 minutes)
- Money Manager (online or in person, 1 hour)
- Leadership Essentials (online or in person, 30 minutes)
- Jumpstart (in person, with Service Unit)
- CPR/First Aid (in person, 2-3 hours)
- Let’s Go 1-Out and About–training is required for meetings and outings (online or in person, 1 hour)
Other Trainings
- Let’s Go 2–Fire, Food & Fun is required if you are cooking over a fire (2 hours in person)
- Let’s Go 3–Outdoor Skills is required for overnights (7 hours in person)
- Let’s Go-Extra Mile (required for national or international travel (online, 20 minutes)
- Chaperone Training (self study packet, required for all adults on overnights)
- Youth Protection Training (online, 1 hour)
