Overnight to Corpus Christi
Hi All,
I am planning a SU event for January 28-29 to go to Corpus Christi and you have two options!!!!
Option 1: Arrive in Corpus Christi Saturday to board the USS Lexington for an overnight called Live Aboard. Dinner and breakfast are served on the ship. They have a great flag ceremony, time to tour the ship, a movie in the Imax theater, and a challenging scavenger hunt. You pack up your gear and have it loaded into cars by 10am. Sunday, you will head next door to the Texas State Aquarium. Your troop can do the self guided aquarium tour, and I am working on behind the scenes tours to go with this option.
Option 2: Arrive in Corpus Christi Saturday to do the overnight at the Texas State Aquarium. We will have access to the aquarium to tour after closing, have an animal encounter, and do a behind the scenes tour. A pizza dinner and a continental breakfast are included. Sunday, after you pack up, you will them head next door to the USS Lexington. You can tour the ship at your leisure and your admission includes the movie in the Imax theater.
Both options will have a patch for the adventure. Liveaboard has their own patch also.
Both of these options cost $75 for both adults and children, however, the Service Unit will pay for up to two leaders per troop to go to either option.
You can tell your troop about the trip, even if you can’t go. The Scout will need one adult to attend the trip with her. The adult must be regsitered and have a current CBC. We will find her a troop to hang out with.
Tag-a-longs are NOT permitted. Dads are welcome, but male sleeping quarters/arrangements are separated from the female quarters.
You can split your troop up between the two options, but you need two adults at each place or you need to combine adult coverage with another troop. I can help with this if need be. Once you regsiter for an option you can switch to the other unless we have someone to swap with.
Each troop must have a Let’s Go 1 and First Aid/CPR trained adult attending.
I need money and a list of those attending and your option by January 1. Elizabeth will need a Troop Travel Application by that date also.
I don’t have our arrival time yet, but I imagine it will be Saturday afternoon.
