========LHSU NEWS ========
LHSU BRIDGING CEREMONY @ GALLERIA AMPHITHEATER |Done! Thank you Madia, Jean, and all of Troop 1843 for putting on such a great event for our entire service unit!
VEC – Volunteer Enrichment Conference | July 11th | This is a great full day event with opportunities galore to meet other leaders from across Central Texas, take a training and/or other interesting class to enrich your girls scouting experiences! Highly recommend attending if you can – details below under GSCTX news – register via e-Biz by June 27th.
UNCLAIMED BLACK i-PHONE | We still haven’t figured out whose phone ended up in the lost and found from Camp Champions. Surely someone has missed it by now? Please ask your campers if any of them is missing a phone, it says “no service” in the corner, so suspect it is someone’s device that they use for school with the internet and that they use as a camera. It is locked so we can’t get into it to find out whose it might be. It’s a black, iPhone – please contact Rosalie@galliver.org to claim it.
LEADER/DAUGHTER END-OF-YEAR PARTY | JUN 12 @ IRWIN’S | Leaders if you haven’t gotten the official evite yet, please contact Kim @ kimberlyirwin40@gmail.com so she can add you to the list!
EARLY BIRD REGISTRATION IS HERE | April 30 – July 31 | Anybody who has registered by May 22 will be eligible for the Super-early bird prize drawing, which includes a week at Girl Scout camp this summer, as well as other prizes. There will be a second prize drawing after July 31 for everyone who registered before that date. You can find all the information, forms, and flyers about registration at gsctx.org. At the top right of the homepage, click the “ebiz” link, then at the bottom left, click the “registration help desk” link. Finally, click “early bird recruitment and marketing toolkit”. I know, I know, you would think registration links would be on the homepage… but, alas. The process should be so much easier this year as returning scouts are already in the online system. Parents will need to login to their ebiz account and update registration for 2016. People registering with cash, check, or requiring financial assistance cannot register online. Paper forms can be printed from the gsctx.org website for these cases. Leaders need to turn in a membership summary sheet and two copies of each paper registration, along with payment, to the registrar. Council prefers that parents register their scouts but there are procedures on gsctx.org for leaders to register the troop using troop funds; parent permission for a leader to register a scout must be turned in to the registrar. If you have any questions, or problems, email me at clark_drv@yahoo.com.
OUR SERVICE UNIT NEEDS YOU!|We are in great need of a Service Unit Cookie Sale Manager and Warehouse Manager…thank you so much for considering! Unfortunately for Lake Hills there will be NO COOKIE SALES FOR LHSU NEXT YEAR unless these positions are filled… If you want to know what’s involved before saying “yes” please contact Elizabeth (Elizabeth@thedevines.com) and she’ll get you connected to those who know.
Our council code is 578 our registration area is 4 and our service unit code is 670 – all important info for registering for scouts or scout events/trainings and CBCs (criminal background checks) – our webpage is also a good resource http://www.lakehillsgs.org/

CONGRATS!! 2014-15 LHSU Leader Awards and Recognitions’ |”Appreciation should be an everyday process for everyone. Showing appreciation for one another is a good way to show respect, to relate to each others strengths and to build mutual commitment. Whether working in partnership with girls or other adults, everyone can benefit from a positive atmosphere and attitude of appreciation.” | “Recognitions are tangible reminders of rewarding relationships and “jobs well done” between adult volunteers and Girl Scouting. We recognize those whose service goes above and beyond, who exceed expectations, whose contributions are significant, and those who are a model of outstanding performance.” – Girl Scouts of Central Texas Council | On April 30th, the LHSU recognized the following leaders and volunteers that went above and beyond during the 2014-15 program year.
