Stepping Up to CCC
Stepping Up to CCC (prerequisite is OCC)
9/30/12 1pm-9pm @Kodosky
10/6/12 12:30-8:30 @Georgetown Girl Scout House
If both these training fill up, I will see about offering another one in early November.
After Taking the 3 hour OCC course, you will be certified to take your girls on an overnight for 1-2 nights that doesn’t involve outdoor cooking and where you will all sleep indoors. For example, you can overnight in a Girl Scout House and use the kitchen; you can’t build a fire and have s’mores.
CCC certifies you for tent camping, fire building, and outdoor cooking. If you take the 2 day CCC course, it includes the OCC training as well. For example, after taking CCC you can go on a 2 day tent camp out with your girls, build a fire, and cook using any outdoor cooking method. If you aren’t outdoorsy, you can sleep indoors. Anything you can do with OCC, you can do with CCC. You can’t overnight more than 2 nights.
If you have taken OCC and you are ready for outdoor cooking, fire use, and sleeping in tents, you can take Stepping Up to CCC. This is an 8 hour training. Once you have taken OCC and Stepping Up, you can do anything that CCC and OCC traing allows.
If you want to take an extended trip, i.e. more than 2 nights, you will need to take TCC in addition to CCC or OCC and Stepping Up. This is a packet you work through at home and turn into your SUD, Service Unit Director, or Training Coordinator. TCC teaches you how to plan an extended trip with your girls and how to file the correct paperwork. After taking TCC you can plan a trip to Our Chalet in Switzerland or hike the AT; the possibilities are endless.
