Eleanor Venditti has almost completed her Silver Award project. She has mobilized volunteers to help make child carriers to support refugees granted asylum in the US. At the end of the month she will travel to Del Rio to deliver the completed carriers and volunteer with the Val Verde Border Humanitarian Coalition. She is asking for assistance from scouts in the service unit to help sew and package the carriers. Eleanor learned to use a sewing machine for this project and basic sewing skills are all that are required. Step by step assistance will be available. There are also non-sewing tasks suitable for younger scouts. The Hive at the Hill Country Galleria is providing space on Saturday, August 10 for a volunteer work day. Please drop in between 1:30 and 6:00 to help out.
Service Unit Bridging/Rededication/Investiture and Higher Awards ceremony will take place on Sunday, August 18 from 2-4 pm at the VFW4443 located at 7614 Thomas Spring Rd. Even if you already bridged you are welcome to participate in the ceremony for bridging, rededication, or investiture. We will also recognize higher awards recipients—Bronze, Silver, Gold, Super Troops, Super GIRL, Summit, and any other higher awards your girls have earned. We recognize that some of these higher awards require girls to go above and beyond activities at the troop level and it is important that we recognize these accomplishments. We are happy to acknowledge any other higher awards that you think are important (Service bars, junior aide, etc.). If you want to participate please email firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as possible with names of all the girls bridging, rededicating, investing and/or Awardees so we can put them in the program. You do not have to worry if they will attend or not. Here is the information we need:
Bridging —Girl’s name/Grade level/Bridging to ________
Awards — Girl’s name/Grade level/Award earned
Rededication — List of ALL girls in your troop who are returning to girl scouting (whether or not they will attend)
Investiture—If you already have new girls who are completely NEW to Girl Scouting and joining your troop please give us their names and grade levels
Your information should be sent to Nelda Barrón at email@example.com. Please let us know if you have any questions or if there is anything else we can do to make this special for your girls. Thank you.
