Hi everyone, I hope you are all enjoying your summer!
My name is Lauren Mckeown and I am a Girl Scout in Jennifer McKeown’s troop. I am currently working on my Gold Award project and want you guys to get involved! For my project I am working with the organization Days4Girls and putting together feminine hygiene kits to help girls receive equal education in 3rd world countries. Girls in third world countries don’t have access to feminine hygiene products like tampons and pads, therefore they are forced to stay home every time they are on their menstrual cycle.
As a member of troop 1388, I participated in many sewing activities at a young age. This is how I learned how to sew. I have used my sewing abilities multiple times throughout my life and believe it is a skill every girl scout should learn. This sewing activity is a great meeting idea, bronze award project or individual activity and making bags is a great way to learn how to sew. Throughout my project I have been working with a Junior girl scout troop and have instructed them how to sew the bag for their Bronze award project.
Below I have attaching an instructional video on how to make the bags along with written instructions. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me or check out the Days4Girls website. My email is firstname.lastname@example.org and my phone number is 512-800-3009.
